The Secretary for Commerce and Economic
Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
(HKSAR), Mr Frederick Ma addressed an audience of 300 businessmen,
professionals, government officials and media representatives at a
business conference held on
November 5.
The conference, entitled
“Bustling Hong Kong – the Premier Commercial and Financial Hub in
Asia” was organized by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in
San Francisco. Mr Ma was the keynote speaker and was joined by a
panel of prominent executives from the United States and Hong
Kong. .

The internationally acclaimed City Contemporary
Dance Company (CCDC) from Hong Kong had a successful performance at
the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theatre in San Francisco on
October 25.
When officiating at the
performance, Ms Doris Cheung, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and
Trade Office in San Francisco told the full house audience that she
was delighted to bring the artistic soul of Hong Kong, the city’s
best home-grown performing troupe to San Francisco.

Hong Kong Chief Executive Mr. Donald Tsang,
has outlined a new direction for Hong Kong’s development in his
first Policy Address of the Third Term Hong Kong Special
Administrative Region Government.
Mr. Tsang said he had full confidence in the city’s future.
“The rise of our country
brings new opportunities. It
also ushers in a new era for Hong Kong,” said Mr. Tsang
in his Policy Address entitled ‘A New Direction for
Hong Kong’.

Talented 10th graders received awards at a
prize presentation ceremony on October 13, organized by the Hong
Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco at Union Square.
Thousands of spectators and tourists from various countries joined
the ceremony.
Wing-yin Cheung won the
first prize, two round trip air tickets to Hong Kong, with her
creative writing and design which vividly portrayed the unique
characteristics of Hong Kong people’s “can-do” spirit.

An exciting look at one of the world’s most
cosmopolitan cities is the focus of a four half-hour episode
documentary series, “Inside Hong Kong”. Hosted by Hong Kong-born
Bay Area resident, producer and writer Roger Garcia, and Chinese
American Mimi Chan, the series looks at different aspects of Hong
Kong – a city where east meets west, and where tradition blends
with the 21st century.

luncheon co-organized by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office
in San Francisco and Hong Kong Association of Northern California
on September 26.
